About Telepathic Communication With Animals

Oh So Native, a/k/a "Bubba"

If you talk with the animals
they will talk with you
and you will know each other.

If you do not talk with them,
you will not know them.
And what you do not know you will fear.
What one fears, one destroys.

~ Chief Dan George

TO HEAR MY RECENT INTERVIEW, CONDUCTED BY MARGUERITE FLOYD, REGARDING ANIMAL COMMUNICATION, VISIT http://www.scritches.com/podcast/Kat.mp3

The ability to telepathically connect with other beings has been a tremendous blessing in my life, and I am most grateful that I can serve animals and their human companions this way.  This ability is inherent in all of us, and if you are committed to opening to it, you too can communicate with the animals.

  Animal Communication: Its Purpose and Uses  ∞

An Animal Communicator is also known as a Pet Psychic. The purpose of a communication session is, among others, to more fully understand the psyche of your animal companion, to enhance the quality of its life, and to make a connection at a different level to "see through new eyes" the animals who inhabit your lives, whether domestic or wild. Communication sessions with animals can be beneficial for:

  • learning the reason(s) behind your animal companion’s actions (such as aggression, separation anxiety,  inappropriate elimination, etc.) in order to resolve such issues and communicate the desired behavioral changes;

  • understanding and addressing emotional phobias, fears and trauma (including neglect and abuse such as with rescued animals);

  • understanding issues between animal companions in order to restore harmony to the home;

  • assisting your animal to better understand you, and you them;

  • obtaining information about health issues;

  • learning their likes and dislikes;

  • explaining changes in lifestyle, living arrangements, death of a loved one . . . ;

  • discussing with the animal their impending death (in cases of terminal illness or injury);

  • communicating with animals who have passed over and are now In Spirit, to assist their person in honoring and healing their grief and loss;

  • locating a lost animal;

  • learning what you can do to make your animal companion's life more complete, fulfilling, rewarding and fun;

  • learning your animal's life purpose;

  • exploring past lives, both the animal's separate lives and those you've shared together;

and much more.  Telepathic communication can be used to address any number of situations you and your animal may deal with in your relationship and, most importantly, to deepen your special bond.

  Definitions

From The Donning International Encyclopedic Psychic Dictionary:
Animism: reflects the life force in all things; the fundamental essence.
Holistic: emphasis on each part of the whole [in this case, the "whole" being the body, mind, spirit and emotions in human and non-human creatures] is as important as the whole.
Metaphysics: doctrine that all things are a part of one great Source (intelligence or energy; Cosmic Consciousness), each piece of the whole is dependent on the others, and all contribute to the Source.
Telepathic Communication: to psychically send and receive messages over a distance, in the form of pictures, words, colors, feelings, sensations, movement, sound, and viewpoint.
Telepathy is . . . “The touch of consciousness of one [being] upon another with the ability to discern what the [other] is thinking and feeling at the present moment; the sensing can be thoughts, visions, hypnotic energy, body movements, subconscious data, feelings, illness, emotional states, psychic messages, or the train of inner-dialogue. . . “.

 How It Works

I am an empath (I psychically receive impressions regarding the emotional state of an animal); clairsentient (I receive information through a sense of “inner knowing” which bypasses the thought process); clairaudient (I psychically hear the “voice” of the animal, and sense vibrations and hear sounds through a sense other than normal hearing); clairvoyant (I psychically see pictures, visions, scenes, objects, words, lights, colors, auras, thought-forms, animals and people, any of which may be past, present or future time). At times I am also clairscensient (I psychically smell odors and fragrances not physically present) and clairsavorant (I psychically experience tastes or flavors).  When appropriate, I may ask the animal if I can "step into" its body to see through its eyes (both physical vision -- what do they see -- and personally -- what do they see about themselves or about a situation).  I also receive information from animals regarding health issues.  This information has been helpful to the client and their veterinarian or other animal health care professional in determining what, if any,  steps to take (allopathic medicine, holistic care, homeopathic treatment, flower essences, surgery, chiropractic, acupuncture, etc.).  This information is not in lieu of medical diagnoses and care.

While a photograph is always helpful, it isn't strictly necessary (such as in the case of lost animals, where a photograph may not be available for some time).  I can also pick up information about the animal while talking with the client. Distance has no effect on my psychic abilities; I've successfully worked with animals on a variety of issues, as well as with lost animals, around the world.

A typical session takes 60-90 minutes, and I use a process known as channeled writing.  I speak with the client first, either via email or by telephone about the animal (minimal information is requested).  I then psychically relay to and receive information and messages from the animal, transcribe it verbatim as it comes through, and do not judge, analyze or revise it. I relay the typed transcript to the client, they read it and then call me to discuss the contents. Fees are determined by the length of the session, preparation time beforehand (first 15 minutes are free), and discussion time afterwards (first 15 minutes are free). Clients like having the transcript so they can review it several times in order to fully digest the information.  It also saves them from having to take notes during the phone call afterwards, which can be distracting, and details and nuances can be missed when taking notes.  In emergency situations (lost animal, serious injury, impending death, etc.), I usually relay information directly to the person by phone unless otherwise agreed.

Each being, animal and human, is unique in their individual personalities, quirks, habits, foibles, beliefs, internal agendas, spiritual purpose . . . .  No two animals sound or feel the same to me energetically, nor do people.  Some animals speak in a fast, breathy or heavy voice; some are very polite, some are very hyper, some are shy; but each is able to communicate clearly with us, just as we do amongst ourselves.  The messages from our animal friends range from the mundane to the hilarious, from the serious to the profound.  Often all of those aspects of their personalities, and more, come through in a session.  I am always humbled by the feeling of love and compassion which emanates from them during a communication session.  Animals love to be heard by us, truly heard, and they appreciate our attempts to do so.  Communicating with animals on behalf of their human companions is an interactive process.  Animals are grateful for the opportunity to share their stories and feelings and knowledge with their person.  Sometimes, to resolve issues , the person must look at adjusting their outlook or belief system regarding who their animal really is.  I hear time and again how a behavior changed or a physical condition was improved, how much happier, more content, less aggressive, more affectionate etc. the animal is, that the person better understands their animal companion's outlook on life and why they behave in certain ways, and how it enhances and deepens their connection.  That's what my work is about.

Healthy skepticism is understandable. I have been very intuitive all my life with animals and people, so this ability does not seem at all strange to me.   If a person has concerns about what animal communication is, how it works, and how that fits into their belief system, I encourage them to conduct their own research about the subject.  There are many well written books and tapes available.  Reviewing one or more books or tapes, or attending a seminar or workshop, about this subject can help you rediscover this natural ability within yourself.  Exploring this intangible realm can lead you on an exhilarating, soul-supporting, incredibly heart-expanding journey.  The ability to telepathically communicate with others is inherent in all of us.  Many still choose to ignore or negate or shun it, for any number of reasons. If you are reading this, you have opened your personal doorway to such a journey.

Apprehend God in all things, for God is in all things. Every single creature is full of God and is a book about God. Every creature is a word of God.  If I spent enough time with the tiniest creature, even a caterpillar, I would never have to prepare a sermon. So full of God is every creature.

 ∞ Animals as Teachers, Spiritual Partners and Healers

The animals who cross our paths, the ones we “resonate with”, or those who “pick us”, do so for a reason. Call it divine direction, past life connection (or not, if that is not part of your belief system), an agreement to work together in this life, a knowing that together the two of you can do wonderful things. . . . This beloved companion might be a dog who has the ability to be a tracking dog, a search and rescue dog, an agility dog, your best friend, the Light of your life; or a happy and lively animal companion (perhaps a potbellied pig?!) who makes you laugh, one who helps you when you are going through tough times, one who teaches you things (about who animals are, about what they need, how they feel, etc.), and the two of you work together to explore your unlimited potential – whatever that may be . . . . You may find yourself becoming calmer and gentler and more introspective because you welcomed an animal into your life who shows you how to relax and enjoy the peaceful silence or the beauty of nature (watch a cat some time, how they truly look at everything around them), or becoming more alert and present in the moment because of the joy you feel from watching your dog focus on those squirrels/butterflies/birds/bugs; watching your horse run freely, tasting and feeling the wind, eating with gusto or grazing lazily. . . .  Marvel at the beauty and grace of a bird's song and flight, how it uplifts your heart and soul. This bond and mutual learning/teaching doesn’t mean the two of you must do “big important things”. It facilitates bringing out the best in each other – love, guidance, security, support, acknowledgment, gratitude, playfulness . . . playing “drag the string across the floor” with your cat embodies all those things. I don’t mean to say the animal, whatever species, has to “do” something (like agility, showing, tricks, whatever). I mean that they are given space with you to be who they are, you allow yourself to be who you are when with them, and the lesson learning takes place throughout our lives. They will sometimes struggle with their own issues that have nothing to do with us – think about the timid dog, the aggressive cat, the depressed bird, the horse who has been ostracized by the others . . . . People have situations and issues to learn from and spiritual path to follow, and it is the same for the animals.

Max, my older Weimaraner, definitely picked me – I wanted his sister, but he just kept gently sliding her over so he could get up on the front of the cage and stick his paw out at me. He did this three times, so I thought “all right, I guess you’re the one!”. They were born (litter of 14) on the day of my terrible car accident and that made me think too, for some reason, that he was the right one for me. Max is the reason I finally jumped into holistic care and feeding a raw food diet, and I haven't looked back. He has also taught me about patience with and compassion for self.

The women who found Barney, my younger Weimaraner, wandering the streets of San Antonio obtained my name through a member of the the local Weimaraner club.  This was unusual.  Usually people contact the state's rescue group directly, and the group will ask me to retrieve and foster the dog. (You can see Barney's story under the Rescue Work section on the site menu.) I fostered and eventually adopted him.  I never thought I couldn’t help him, but there were many times I wondered if I could do enough to support him nutritionally, energetically, etc. to sustain his life and increase his vital life force. One night when he was struggling so hard with pneumonia, having great difficulty breathing, I gave him a Reiki treatment. I told him if he was ready to go to the Light, if he was too tired and didn’t want to struggle any more, he did not need to stay, that it was okay for him to be free again of this Earth plane. He said he was not ready to leave, but he had nothing left in him (not enough vital force) to work with to assist in his own healing. So it was a matter of giving him anything I could think of or find out about or try that would be supportive of his physical body. He was not “present” in his body for months because of the mental, physical and emotional pain and trauma he had suffered.  There was nobody home when you looked in his eyes. He was overwhelmed by the tremendous pain from his gut, stomach and lung problems and could not bear to be with his body. It was the saddest and most heart-wrenching case I’ve ever worked on. One day, many months after he arrived at our doorstep,  I looked into his eyes and did a double-take -- he was with us in spirit as well as present in his body.  I cried; I had been uncertain that day would ever arrive.

My animal companions have all been master teachers for me. They have dealt with one or more issues related to trust, acceptance, security, self-confidence, and others -- and they were mirroring my issues to me.  All had one or more serious medical issues (such as megaesophaegus, feline infectious peritonitis, seizures, cancer . . .); and they caused me to look at my health problems over the years in a different light. They also have taught me, by their illnesses, how to stretch and grow in my knowledge of natural care and alternative healing modalities. All of this has been a blessing for me, and I am grateful to them for their teachings. I keep reaching for the next thing that might help us and others to heal, and in doing so I've found amazing products and tools which work. I've learned many lessons from Barney, Max and my other animal companions and fosters, past and present.  My view of how the mind, emotions, body and spirit are interconnected has solidified.  It is my firm wish that what we've experienced together will be helpful to others dealing with the same or similar issues.

 ∞ Interspecies Telepathic Communication: An Eye-Opener

Animals communicate with each other and with us through mental visual images, feelings, and thoughts.  One way to start "seeing" and communicating with your animal companion is to begin viewing the world through his or her eyes. First try meditating, or just getting very quiet and undistracted, and see if you can "feel" him, his energy and presence, whether he's physically near you or not.  Then, physically put yourself on your animal's level - that means lay down on the ground (for small friends such as hamsters, turtles and snakes), sit on the floor (for short friends like dogs and cats), stand on a chair (for tall friends like deer, horses, cows and llamas).  Put yourself where your eyes are at the same level as theirs.  Then . . .  see what they see (look closely), smell what they smell (breathe deeply), imagine how the wind would feel ruffling your coat (mmmmmm), imagine what their paws or hooves or belly feel while touching the ground (warmth? vibrations? dampness?) . . . . If you've never done anything like this, it may seem silly. But I can almost guarantee that it will change the way you view your animal's world.  Being "vertically challenged" as most of our animal friends are, they do not see at your eye level -- so, their view of the world is completely different.  The above exercise will give you insight into what it's like for your animal friend to live in this world and in your environment.  There are many books available about communication with animals which offer techniques, exercises and meditations for getting in touch with your animal friends. They also include stories and personal experiences of how interspecies telepathic communication has enhanced the bond between people and their animals.  Please see Resources

For teenagers: See Awakening to Animal Voices ~ A Teen Guide to Telepathic Communication by my friend, Dawn Baumann Brunke. She describes her book as follows:

The focus of this book is on engaging our natural abilities to connect, commune and talk with animals. Animal communication is explored as a primary tool, as is developing a variety of experiential skills through meeting animal guides, exploring animal myths, and observing and participating in animal encounters (from meeting animals in the everyday world to in our dreams and via shamanic voyaging techniques). We also explore developing a partnership with animals (including our fellow humans) via healing, shapeshifting and becoming more conscious in sharing death experiences.

Awakening to Animal Voices explores a diversity of simple, elegant and easy tools, methods, ideas, exercises, experiments and games that can help us to open ourselves and deepen in our relationships. As each individual relates to the world in a unique way, the focus of information is on variety. This book looks at -- and celebrates -- the richness of the many diverse ways we may open to the essential oneness of animals, others, and ourselves, and, as a result, express a fuller, more consciously alive, awakened self in the world.

NOTE: While the title indicates the book is for teenagers, I highly recommend it to anyone interested in animal communication, because it's an eye-opener and fascinating reading.

Communicating telepathically with non-human species is . . . an incredible experience!   The powerful impact which communication sessions have on the animal and their person is heartwarming and life-affirming, no matter the issue or situation.  To work with a divine being inhabiting a non-human form is an amazing experience, and I am touched and deeply humbled each time.  The animals have much to say, and much to teach us.  If you have not already stepped into this realm, take a leap of faith and see what your view is from where you land!

THE TALKING DOG . . .   [author unknown]

This guy sees a sign in front of a house: "Talking Dog for Sale."  He rings the bell and the owner tells him the dog is in the backyard. The guy goes into the backyard and sees a dog sitting there. "You talk?" he asks. "Yep," the dog replies.
"So, what's your story?"
The dog looks up and says, "Well, I discovered this gift pretty young and I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA about my gift, and in no time they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping." "I was one of their most valuable spies eight years running.  The jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger and I wanted to settle down. So I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security work, mostly wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings there and was awarded a batch of medals. Had a wife, a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired."
The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog. The owner says, "Ten dollars."  The guy says, "This dog is amazing. Why on earth are you selling him, and so cheap?"
The owner replies, "He's such a liar. He didn't do any of that stuff he told you."

    THE VOICE OF THE VOICELESS

    by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

    I am the voice of the voiceless;
    Through me the dumb shall speak;
    Till the deaf world's ear be made to hear the cry of the wordless weak.
    From street, from cage, and from kennel, from jungle and stall, the wail of my tortured kin proclaims the sin of the mighty against the frail.

    I am a ray from the centre; and I will feed God's spark, till a great light glows in the night and shows
    The dark deeds done in the dark. And full on the thoughtless sleeper
    Shall flash its glaring flame, till he wakens to see what crimes may be
    Cloaked under an honoured name.

    The same Force formed the sparrow
    that fashioned man, the king; the God of the Whole gave a spark of soul to furred and to feathered thing. And I am my brother's keeper,
    and I will fight his fight, and speak the word for beast and bird, till the world shall set things right.

A MESSAGE FROM MAX (the Rottweiler)

My name is Max and I have a little something I'd like to whisper in your ear.

I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work, some have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things in life.

Look down at me now, while you sit there at your computer. See the way my dark brown eyes look at yours? They are slightly cloudy now; that comes with age. The grey hairs are beginning to ring my soft muzzle. You smile at me; I see love in your eyes. What do you see in mine?

Do you see a spirit, a soul inside who loves you as no other could in the world? A spirit that would forgive all trespasses of prior wrong doing for just a simple moment of your time? That is all I ask. To slow down if even for a few minutes to be with me.

So many times you have been saddened by the words you read on that screen, of others of my kind passing. Sometimes we die young and oh so quickly, sometimes so suddenly it wrenches your heart out of your throat. Sometimes we age so slowly before your eyes that you do not even seem to know, until the very end, when we look at you with grizzled muzzles and cataract-clouded eyes. Still the love is always there, even when we take that long sleep, to run free in distant lands.

I may not be here tomorrow; I may not be here next week. Someday you will shed the waters from your eyes, that humans have when deep grief fills their souls, and you will be angry at yourself that you did not have just "One more day" with me.

Because I love you so, your sorrow touches my spirit and grieves me. We have Now, together. So come, sit down here next to me on the floor. And look deep into my eyes. What do you see? If you look hard and deep enough we will talk, you and I, heart to heart. Come to me not as "alpha" or as a "trainer" or even a "Mom or Dad", come to me as a living soul and stroke my fur and let us look deep into one another's eyes, and talk. I may tell you something about the fun of chasing a tennis ball, or I may tell you something profound about myself, or even life in general. You decided to have me in your life (I hope) because you wanted a soul to share just such things with. Someone very different from you, and here I am.

I am a dog, but I am alive. I feel emotion, I feel physical senses, and I can revel in the differences of our spirits and souls. I do not think of you as a "Dog on two feet", I know what you are. You are Human, in all your quirkiness, and I love you still.

Now, come sit with me, on the floor. Enter my world, and let time slow down if even for only 15 minutes. Look deep in my eyes, and whisper to my ears. Speak with your heart, with your joy, and I will know your true self. We may not have tomorrow, and life is oh so very short.

Love, Max
