various chatlists which I am a member of]
Aggression Toward Animals and Certain
People: This young dog had gone through a very unstable early life, and
had not been properly socialized. He expressed aggression toward other dogs,
chased people in cars and on motorcycles, was very territorial, and chased
the family's outdoor cat. Over several Bach treatment bottles, he became
friends with the neighbor dog and is gently playful, and became tolerant of
and/or bonded with all three cats. With one cat, if the cat was outside and
wanted back in, he let the client know! He was also calmer, listened
and responded better to commands, and was much less hyper about certain
situations.
Anxiety, Clinginess, Aggression: This male dog was a very
nervous dog, and preferred the dark (felt safer there). He was rescued at
three weeks old, and the separation from the mother created severe
separation anxiety and abandonment issues. He exhibited clinginess at
bedtime, and aggression toward other dogs. He also did not feel comfortable
with the woman’s father. After just a week on the remedies, he showed
improvement in attitude and timidity. The next time he was around the
father, he interacted with him in a friendly manner. He continued to show
improvement in other areas as well.
Separation Anxiety: “The Bach remedies have really helped
a lot at my house. My younger dog especially seems to be doing much better
now that she's on the Bach (and it sure hasn't hurt me either!). She has a
lot fewer anxiety symptoms and has been dealing with me working at the
office (being gone during the day) much much better than before.
Hooray!!!!! Thanks again for all your help!!!!" Tracey
Rimadyl Overdose: “First...all of the dogs are fine!
After inducing all 4 dogs, it was determined that the 2 year old had
ingested most of the tablets. Panicking, I called Kat who told me to use the
Bach treatment bottles she had sent for one of the rescue dogs on all four
dogs, and MYSELF!! Not to question another woman on a mission, I did as
instructed! I can't express enough the benefits of the little brown
bottle! After using it on the dogs and myself, within one hour all the dogs
were sleeping restfully, and I was calm enough to pack for my trip, and
remembered to take EVERYTHING I needed! Kat, YOU’RE HEAVEN SENT!”

Timidity: A small male dog was obtained at 3 months
of age; the woman didn’t think he was socialized by the breeder. “He
has been exposed to dog shows and various sounds since the beginning.
He’s very quiet away from home, but travels well. He’s outgoing at
home, tail up, loves to climb and jump on their agility obstacles. He
will let you hold him and cuddle him. He’s been taken to nursing homes
as a pet therapy dog, and is very quiet but lets people pet him. He needs
more confidence and self-esteem.” He was started on several Bach
remedies. [update to list]: “He seems to wag a little more and hold his tail
up higher at home. Also shows more breed-specific attitude at home
when other dogs come over.” [later update] “When we took him to
the show on Saturday, I gave him his drops about an hour before ringtime. He
did take bait [treats] from other people which he normally didn’t do before.”

Fear of Strangers and General Anxiety:
This female
dog shook with fear when someone looked at her in a busy setting such as the
dog show at the convention center (hid behind her person, under benches,
etc.). She was taken many places and was around strangers quite a lot. She strongly
disliked people, men more so than women, although she had a problem with
women when in the show ring. She would take cheese from a stranger only if
strongly encouraged. She had been well socialized with other dogs and
did well at
the sitter’s home. She was very agitated in the car, pacing back and forth
very quickly. She absolutely would not get near the male real estate agent
in the new home they were buying (barked and kept backing up). They had to
put her outside because she was out of control, barking and skidding around
the house. Issues addressed were severe anxiety, low self-esteem, poor
self-image, fear of known things, worrisome thoughts, and concentration in
training situations. Small improvements were seen with the first treatment
bottle – she remained in the same room as the real estate agent, in a
down/stay position. She was still very jumpy, but seemed more tolerable of
new situations. She stopped drooling in her crate (used to drool profusely
when they’d leave the house for whatever length of time). Unfortunately,
the people did not continue with her Bach program so I don’t know if further
improvements were seen.

Fear of Storms: “I don’t think everyone is aware that I
have been in touch with Kat for a Bach remedy for my older dog who has
issues with loud noises, specifically thunder and noises outside. Well,
after a few emails Kat sent me a bottle of Bach. It was the best timing! I
live in the Kansas City area and we had a horrible ice storm last week. My
bottle came in the mail on Wednesday during the beginning of the ice storm.
Branches were already beginning to fall from the weight. Many people were
losing their power. I gave him his first dose and before going to bed the
second dose. I could hear branches falling everywhere and transformers were
blowing! Lots of yucky noise. Most amazingly, He seemed calm! Much to my
relief! I envisioned getting no sleep that night from the 90 lb. boy trying
to get closer to Mom and the noise and anticipation of when my trees would
fall and my power would go out? With God’s grace I did not lose power or
any major branches! The next morning, letting the boys out, there was a
huge crash of a branch falling about the same time as a transformer blew.
My dog just turned and gave a little woof! I figured he would be skating in
with his tail tucked! Man, was I surprised!! I asked Kat the next day if
that was possible, to see such positive effects so soon, and she said yes!!
Boy, am I a believer!!” Laura
[in a later post to a list] “Just a refresher for everyone
(it’s been awhile since I posted). [X] is my 9 year old neutered male dog.
The last few years he has developed an issue with storms. Well, a couple of
months ago I got with Kat Berard and she made a Bach treatment bottle for
me. Immediately I noticed improvements and it continues. Over this past
weekend here in Kansas City we have had some horrible storms. My dog’s
reactions have been amazing. Saturday night I was awakened by the storm –
lightning, hail, hard rain and WIND!! He was not on the bed with me and of
course I thought the worst! He’s dead! Well, I reached down to him and he
was asleep! I received a big grunt for disturbing him! “I am just amazed”
is an understatement! I am STILL amazed and thrilled! Thank you soooo much,
Kat, for the help!!” Laura
Fear of Storms: “My
young female dog has a great fear of thunderstorms, and I have tried many
alternative treatments/tools to help resolve this. She exhibits great
anxiety, pacing and panting etc. during them. Very little socialization
early on. She panics when laying down, when given training commands, and has
a fear of men. Isn’t very affectionate, and is unfriendly to strangers at
home. She began passing various tests and qualifying in competitions.” She
was started on several Bach remedies. [later post] “she is entered in
obedience on Saturday and seems to be doing okay. Took her to a Show-n-Go
last Sunday. Still have to work on her lagging on off-lead heeling, but she
did good sits and downs. Was told I was part of the lagging problem and
what I shouldn’t do.” . . . “I think I have noticed a little change in other
things such as letting me rub her tummy while she lays on her back next to
me on the couch. She is still not completely relaxed but she lets me do it.”

Coming Into Season: A young female dog
that had been with a trainer for some time came back a "mental mess".
The client gave her Rescue Remedy per my directions and she calmed down.
Then two weeks before she came into heat, she was "acting crazy", getting
obsessive about chewing among other things. The vet was no help, so
she gave the dog two doses of Rescue Remedy and the dog totally relaxed.
Vet Visits: A young dog became very
stressed whenever he visited the vet's office. One time he was so
upset about being on the slippery exam table that he expressed his anal
glands. He also would bark at everyone and wasn't interested in being
petted. When the next visit came around, the client gave him two doses
of Rescue Remedy at home and one in the car before they went into the
clinic. "He was like a completely different dog, calm, not barking,
actually approaching people instead of his usual backing away from them.
He even tried to kiss the vet and eat his hair (my dog's sign of affection,
but who knows why? LOL). . . we had to take him back to get a shot and again
I used the Rescue Remedy, and he was such a joy there. No barking,
trying to kiss Dr. C. and eat his hair again. Thank you for your help, Kat!"
