Can Bach flower
essences harm my animal in any way?
Bach remedies do not work directly on the physical level.
They do not effect a physiological response like medications, herbs and
homeopathy do. They do not interfere with medications, and they are not an
herb. Rather, they rebalance energy in the mental, spiritual and emotional
bodies. Bach works on the principle of the energetic essence of the remedy
(the flower/plant), so it is not based on quantity that you use. The energy
is there regardless of the amount of remedy, that's why you can use a
treatment bottle containing a few drops of each essence in pure water,
rather than using the full strength remedy. Bach flower essences do not slow you down
as far as functioning capacity. Based on the remedies given, they may help you relax
if you are anxious, they may help you feel energized if you are depressed or
exhausted. Same with the animals.
Example: I gave my dog, Barney, a treatment one night
of a few different remedies because he'd countersurfed and eaten a week's worth
of my dog Max's supplements and about 100 Fresh Factors tablets (a natural
supplement for joint problems, skin conditions, "old age" syndrome and more.
See the Natural
Supplements page for more information). He was very
wound up (he's that way naturally but this was even more so). He was pacing and
pacing and pacing and sitting for 10 seconds and pacing . . . he could not stay
still. I gave him three doses five minutes apart. A few minutes after the third
dose he gave a big sigh, then laid down and promptly fell asleep. I do not
expect that kind of reaction every time, it depends on what the imbalance is.
My dog competes/hunts/is a therapy dog. Will the essences affect his
ability to function at his best?
The remedies do not interfere with or negatively impact the
animal’s performance. They are not a drug or an herb. You may notice a
calming effect or a focusing effect, depending on which remedies are given.
In fact, you will probably see improved performance/cooperation/response to
training commands.
My animal and I seem to have some health issues in common. How can we
best address these using Bach flower essences?
A person and their animal may have some remedies in common,
as animals can "take on" (absorb the emotional and physical energy of) their person’s issues. For instance, they may both
experience back pain, or the animal may have kidney problems and the person has
diabetes. The animal’s fear of storms may be similar to the person’s fear of
confrontation, etc. If that’s the case, then I may prepare a Bach protocol that
could be helpful for both of them. |
